April Meeting
The Austin Civil War Roundtable is pleased to welcome Hampton Newsome as our guest speaker for the April meeting, which will be held via Zoom to reach a broader audience. Newsome will discuss his book, Gettysburg’s Southern Front: Opportunity and Failure at Richmond, which examines the often-overlooked military operations in Virginia that coincided with the Gettysburg Campaign. An accomplished historian and author, Newsome has written extensively on the Civil War, including The Fight for the Old North State: The Civil War in North Carolina, January- May 1864 , which was awarded the Richard Barksdale Harwell Award by the Atlanta Civil War Roundtable in 2020 for best book on a Civil War subject. In addition to his writing, Newsome is an attorney and historian with a deep interest in Civil War strategy and leadership. Join us on April 17th at 7:00 PM CDT for this insightful presentation.
